Colchester Archdeaconry Court
This is the last Will and Testament of me Alice Alefounder of Colchester in the County of Essex Widow being sick and weak
in Body but of sound and disposing Mind and Memory (praised be God for the
same)
In the first place I resign my immortal Soul into the hands of Almighty
God my Creator hoping for eternal Life through the Merits and Righteousness of
Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer, my Body I commit to the Earth to be
decently buried at the discretion of my executor hereinafter named
- in the
church yard of Saint Leonards in Colchester aforesaid as near my late Husband
Upcher Alefounder as may be
But my desire is not to be buried until my Body shalt begin to Putrify
and as to my Wordly Estate I dispose thereof as follows, to wit,
- I give to my esteemed Friend The Reverend Giles Hobbs of Colchester
aforesaid Dissenting Minister my Pebble Snuff Box which I usually wear in my
Pocket
- And I give to my Nephew Stephen Hempsted of Market Ilstey in the County
of Berks Surgeon my Silver Tankard (being Family Plate)
- Moreover I give
to my Grandson George Alefounder four large Silver Table Spoons twelve Silver
Tea Spoons two Silver Salt Spoons a pair of Silver Tea Tongs, my Metal Watch and the Copper Plate Picture of him my said Grandson with
- his cousin Anna Maria

as the same Picture is framed and Glazed and called
"Pleasing Intelligence"

Also I give to my said Grandson George
Alefounder all and every my Household Goods Chattels Furniture Plate Linen
Apparel Books and other Effects Monies in hand Debts due and owing to me
Security and Securities for Money and all the rest and residue of my Personal
Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (not otherwise by this my Will expressly
disposed of) to and for his own sole Use and benefit he my said Grandson paying
thereout all my just Debts Funeral Expenses and the charges attending the
proving and executing this my Will with other incidental expenses

do hereby nominate and appoint my said Nephew Stephen Hempsted and my esteemed
Friend The Reverend William Kemp of Colchester aforesaid Dissenting Minister
executor of this my Will and appoint unto them all reasonable charges and
expenses as such executor And my Will e that neither of them shall be charged
with any more Monies Goods or other Effects than what shall actually come into
their hands by virtue of this my Will nor for any loss of the same
Provided such loss should happen without his or their wilful default nor
shall either of them be answerable for the Acts or Doings the one for the other
but each of them for his own Acts and Deeds only
And hereby revoking all
other Wills by me made I declare this only to be my last Will and Testament

In the Name of God Amen I Robert Alfounder Fellow of Emanuell College
in Cambridge Batchelor of Divinity being in good health and Sound and disposing
Mind and Memory praised be God do make and ordain this my last Will and
Testament as followeth
Imprimis I commend my Soul to God my Creator hoping for
Salvation through his Mercy and the Merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour and
Redeemer and my Body I commit to the Earth to be interred at the discretion of my Executrixes after named and as to my Temporal estate I dispose therof as followeth
- first I give and bequeath to Emanuell College twenty pounds to be paid within one year after my decease out of my personal Estate if sufficient if not out of my real Estate
- Item I give and devise to my loving
Sister Jane Alfounder Spinster
and to

my Neice Mary Hill Daughter of
and to their respective Heirs and assigns all and Singular my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whetsoever situate and being in Great Bowden in the County of Leicester

Batchelor of Divinity have made my last Will and Testament in Writing some
years since and
Whereas since the making therof I am intitled to the Revertion of one third part of a Messuage and four yard Lands and a Meadow called Dents Meadow in the Bishops Fee near Leicester and all other the Lands and Tenements there late the Estate of
expectant on the deceased of
and Whereas I shall in Michaelmas Term next together with
who are intitled to the other two third parts of the said premisses levy a Fine thereof to
for the farther and better enabling us to dispose of our respective third parts of the said premisses as to us shall seem meet now my Mind and Will is and I hereby declare and agree that my third part of the said premisses shall be and Enure to the uses following

one Thousand Seven hundred and Forty five make and publish this my Codicil to my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say
I give and bequeath unto
- my Nephew Richard Hill all and Singular my Books of what kind or sort so ever the same be now Standing and being in or about my now dwelling House and Study or Elsewhere
and Lastly it is my desire that this my present Codicil may be taken as part of my last Will and Testament to all Intents and Purposes

Now my Mind and Will is and I do hereby give and bequeath
